The photographs above and first two below  were taken just after the turn of the century - Charlesworths farm is the one across from  the Queen pub, Manor farm was at the side of the Woodhall Manor house  opposite the Old Bay Horse and looks a tad short of investment.  I have been unable to place where the next four properties were, Ratten Row appears to be a terrace with much poverty. The Queen is recognizeable without later extensions. The barn was seriously damaged by mining subsidence, despite the construction of the buttresses indicating that subsidence was expected. It is possible that this outer wall is now the farm wall opposite the Queen public house.

Did you know!  In 1901 there was a Bill before Parliament and an Act was approved that year to build a power generating station at Methley on the Aire.   Well it didnt go ahead. Looks like Ferrybridge or  Skelton Grange won the day!!
