Formed in the village of Altofts in 1967 with mostly a membership connected to the railway industry the club was to have many homes (clubhouses) up to the present time.  At a later date the name of Pontefract was included into the title and the club is now called the Normanton & Pontefract RMS and is based in the upper floor of the Methodist Chapel in this village.
